  • Nelson South wins regional champs
    Nelson South's Fraser Neill won the Marie Saul Cup for best all-round swimmer and helped Nelson South capture most of the club trophies at the Swimming Nelson Marlborough Age Group Championships held over two weekend in early February.

  • Meet our lifeguards for summer
    Hampden Street pool is open to the public and lots of locals have been enjoying sunny weather at our great pool complex. All public sessions are manned by lifeguards to keep everyone safe in the water.

  • Great night for Young Guns
    Several club records were broken on a warm early summer evening at Hampden Street Pool as 88 swimmers competed in the Young Guns meet hosted by Nelson South.

  • The Southern Makos have won the inaugural SNZ inter-zonal competition in Wellington, finishing first in both the junior and senior divisions. Sara Gane and Ellie Rukuwai were 1-2 in the 100m breast, and Sara also won the 200m breaststroke. Sam McKenzie won the 50m freestyle. Well done, guys!

  • Clara is a national champion - x 2!
    Clara Foster won gold medals in the 50 m and 100 m breaststroke for 13-year-old girls at the NZ Short Course Championships in Wellington, as well as a bronze in the 200m breaststroke.

  • Rukuwai & Dwyer selected for South Island team
    Ellie Rukuwai and Phillippa Dwyer of the Nelson South Swimming Club have been selected for an all-South Island team - the Makos - following their impressive performances at the South Island Championships held recently in Blenheim. They will be part of the South Island’s “15 years & Under” zonal team, comprising just 20 swimmers.

  • Gold for Bailee at Div IIs
    Congrats to Bailee Spriggs, who won gold at Div IIs in the 200m Free with a PB of 6.97 seconds. Bailee also got silver in the 800m Free and Bronze in the 400m IM, with big PBs in those events as well. Cameron got 4/4 PBs, and Libby and Claire also got some good PBs. Well done, team!

  • AMP Powerhouse series ends with a bang
    Todd Ballance and Matai McGuinniety came from behind to win their age groups and collect prize money of $150 each as the AMP Powerhouse summer series ended. Eddie Neill kept all his competitors at a safe distance to win the 15 & Over age group.

  • McGuinnietys break more records at Hot 100s
    Kaiori McGuinniety continued his record-breaking form at the Hot 100s swimming meet hosted by Nelson South Swimming Club at Hampden Street pool on Saturday evening. McGuinniety’s backstroke time of 1:01:50 broke a 32-year-old club record for swimmers 17 years and older, held by Scott Aucutt, and his butterfly swim of 59.92 broke a 1990 club record held by Chris Cochrane.

  • Record rampage at Nationals
    Twelve Nelson-Marlborough open records and 32 age group records were broken at the New Zealand Short Course Championships this week in Wellington, in the biggest assault on the regional record book in recent memory. Kaiori McGuinniety of Nelson South Swimming Club led the record-breaking rampage, setting 13 new Nelson-Marlborough records.
