A small Nelson South team of 6 swimmers, 1 coach and a support team of 4 made the journey to Auckland to compete at the 2015 NZ Short Course Championships from 11-15 August, and returned home victorious!

The Team:  Luke Kelly, Ellie Rukuwai, Samantha Trevurza, Clara Foster, Daniel Trevurza and Oliver Stark

The Stats:  6 swimmers, 1 coach, 5 days, 41 swims, 24 pb's, 16 Age Group Top Ten Finishes, 5 Age Group Evening Finals, 3 Open Finals, 2 Open SNM records, 8 Age Group SNM records, 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal and 1 Open Bronze medal :-)  Not bad for a week's work!

The results are all the more impressive as half the team battled illness, and the other half battled to stay healthy :-)

All swimmers had a top ten finish which is a great result!  Luke pb'd 6 of his 7 swims, made the evening age group final for the 400IM and finished 10th in the 1500m free. Luke also set a new SNM age group record for 200m free. Oliver continued his pb'ing ways with 5 pb's from 6 swims and finished 6th, 8th and 10th in the 100m back, 50m back and 200m back respectively, setting 3 new age group SNM records in the process!

However, special mention goes to Ellie who had a sensational meet.  Not only did she pb 8 of her 11 swims, she finished in the Top Ten in 6 of her events and made 3 Open Finals in the evening, as well as setting 3 new Open SNM records and 3 new age group records, but she also needed to purchase extra luggage allowance to bring home her swag of medals!!!!

Well done Ellie - Open Bronze medalist in the 50m breaststroke; Gold medalist in the 50m breaststroke (age group), Silver medalist in the 200m breaststroke (age group) and Bronze medalist in the 100IM (age group).  What a meet :-)
