Kaleb with the Swimming Nelson Marlborough Division 2 Team!

Kaleb Johnston recently returned from Invercargill where he represented the club at SNZ Division II Competition.  His Dad, Mike reports on a successful meet:

"Invercargill was a long way to go for a swim meet but Kaleb Johnston (14) went there for NZ Division II Swim Champs which was held from Wednesday 9 March to Saturday 12 March 2016.  It was a little disappointing that he was the only representative from our club there, together with 5 others from the Blenheim and Tasman swim clubs.

Kaleb carried on from his great PB work over this summer, especially in his specialist three backstroke events, to PB in all 7 events he entered which were the 50, 100 and 200 Backstroke, 50 and 100 Butterfly, 50 Freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley.

He made 4 finals (50, 100, & 200 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly) making a final on all 4 nights of the competition.  Kaleb did PB’s in 10 from 11 races including the finals. His best finish was 4th in the 100 Backstroke while he finished 5th in both the 50 and 200 Backstroke finals. He was 8th in the 100 Butterfly final while just missing out on the 50 Butterfly final where he finished 9th.

Kaleb has achieved NAGS time in the 50 Backstroke and is very close in the 100 and 200 Backstroke events.”
