Swimming Nelson Marlborough hosts 3 regional meets each year:  the Country & Town meet in January, Long Course Champs in February and Short Course Champs in winter.

This winter, Nelson South sent a team of 32 swimmers over the hill to represent the club for a weekend of racing in Blenheim.  Other clubs competing at the meet were Tasman Swim Club, Waimea Swim Club, Blenheim Swimming Club and Motueka Swim Club.  All of our swimmers can be proud of their efforts - there was lots of fantastic swimming over the weekend with plenty of pb's, new qualifying times, podium finishes and exciting relays.

Some of our swimmers, however, deserve a special mention:

Special congratulations to Caitlin Eden for winning the trophy for best overall girl 10 years and under.  On the way to winning the trophy, Caitlin swam 13 pb's from 16 swims including 6 double pb's - where Caitlin pb'd in the morning and then pb'd again in the evening finals, and picked up 7 gold medals and 1 bronze.  Fantastic work Caitlin!

Reuben Lile had a near perfect weekend with 12 pb's from 14 swims including 5 double pb's, 3 golds, 1 silver, 2 bronze medals and a NZ Short Course qualifying time for 200m breast.  Well done Reuben!

Nic Hall had a great weekend in the pool.  Nic started the meet off by knocking a whopping 166.93 seconds from his 1500m free time, which was the biggest pb of the meet - and went on to record 11 pb's from 16 swims including 3 double pb's and picked up 1 gold, 2 silvers and a bronze.

Ryan Heywood looked good wearing the yellow NSSC cap and is a great addition to the team.  Ryan swam 8 pb's from 11 swims including 3 double pb's and picked up a set of medals (gold, silver, bronze) over the weekend.

And last special mention goes to Yegor Jones who was swimming for the first time as a competitive swimmer.  Yegor swam 10 pb's from 14 swims (3 double pb's) and made the podium with a bronze medal for 200m free.  Well done Yegor :-)

Congratulations again to all our swimmers.  Full results can be found here.
