Alex Grenfell lane 3, Skye Huhu lane 5 and Charlie Hobbs lane 7 on the blocks for the 50m fly
Nelson South hosted the Winter Splash meet at the Richmond Aquatic Centre on Saturday 5th September. A team of 19 Nelson South swimmers entered the event and 15 of them recorded at least 1 pb which is a great result for the club! All that hard work training has definitely paid off.
The team welcomed Alex Grenfell, Charlie Hobbs, Hannah Hobbs and Maccrae Baxter to the ranks of competitive swimming who all swam at their first meet as registered swimmers. They all "stepped up" too with all four of them pb'ing every event they had times for. Alex Grenfell was in great form with 5 pb's from 6 swims which included 13.48 seconds off her 50m fly time, and 11.93 seconds off her 100m free time. Great work Alex! The Hobbs siblings both recorded 3 pb's from 5 swims and Maccrae recorded 2 pb's from 4 swims. It was also fantastic to see new Seahorses Lucy Martin and Yegor Jones competing in the unregistered events in the afternoon session.
Nic Hall had a successful day at the pool with 3 pb's from 3 swims including 14.64 seconds off his 400m free. But biggest pb of the meet goes to Hannah Martin who took a huge 21.56 seconds off her 400m free time. Hannah recorded 3 pb's from 4 swims in what was a good day at the pool for her.
Overall it was a very successful meet with a fun and friendly atmosphere. Many thanks as always to the parents who officiated, timekept, catered, marshalled and ran! We look forward to doing it all again on Saturday 31 October for our Hot 100's meet :-)
